Windows Explorer Keeps Crashing on Windows Vista or Windows 7
Sometimes, either due to an update or due to some application you recently installed, Windows explorer might start throwing tantrums. In order to stop Windows Explorer from saying:Windows Explorer has stopped workingorWindows Explorer is restartingyou can try scanning your windows installation for errors and see if that fixes anything. Here’s how to do that:
- Click the start orb
- In the search box, type in cmd
- Enter in your administrator access credentials if necessary and click continue
- Type in:
Sfc /scannow - Press enter
- Now, windows will try to fix itself (you may have to pop-in your windows cd if windows wants to access some files on the CD)
If the above solution does no fix the crashing problem, you should try to see if there are any updates available, or scanning your computer for malware.
